Welcome to SoulProsper Music
Fred Willis is a Christian musician born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Starting out on a drumset at four years old, he followed his love for music to different instruments, genres and venues. Fred has played church music since he began playing but it was a word from the Lord that changed his outlook and the way he makes and creates music. Coupled with time spent studying the bible, the passage 3 John 2 stuck out each time Fred read it. After much study and prayer, Fred changed his focus musically and spiritually. He began to focus on impacting people all over the world with "feel good music".
No longer worried with album sales and an ever elusive recording contract, Fred began writing songs and recording music with the express purpose of bettering the lives of the people who would hear it. Many years of playing in church connected him to needs of the people that regularly attend church. What he discovered through his interaction in the secular arena is that people all over the world need something positive and music is that vehicle of positivity. As both a minister and musician, Fred operates in both of these aspects at all times. His music speaks to the heart of the listener and is full of life altering melodies and expression. |
Fred discovered an intense desire to affect people when they heard his music. He has shared his gift with other artists, churches and singers but it is his own music that brings this desire to pass. Fred has honed his skills as a songwriter and composer over the years and has studied formally at colleges in Texas where he currently resides.
His love for recording music began in the 7th grade and he has grown by leaps and bounds in his pursuit of this art! Fred records his own music in his home studio, but reaches across the globe and cultures/experiences worldwide to convey the messages contained in his music. He attributes his recordings overseas(while in Germany) to his unique approach to musical situations. Recording in bathrooms, hotel rooms and even smoking rooms, he learned that all you need is the will and God given direction to get something done and you can make it happen. Aside from his immense love of music, Fred is an avid reader and writer. Currently Fred is a contributing writer on examiner.com, and regularly contributes via the SoulProsper Media Group. |
Fred has always loved to write and has found a great release through the art of written expression. As a journalist, there's not a question Fred won't ask. As a High School student, Fred used his question asking privelege to ask legendary blues guitarist B.B. King if he was "His passion for writing extends to all facets of Fred's young life, he writes about all topics and as they happen. He began a pointed look back at his childhood and into adulthood as he began to write a yet to be published book during his second year of college. Since then, he has debated the status of the book (complete/incomplete) but never it's importance! The work will be completed according to God's purpose for it, Fred assures potential readers.
Whether writing a song or an online column, one subject who's always a hot topic is his wife Rhonda. The two were married in 2008 and have three children: Joshua, Joi and Jailen. Rhonda is the captivating soprano and alto voice you hear on Fred's recordings.Together they express musically what God has birthed spiritually. Rhonda also sings with her sisters in their group Harmony and in 2010 they released a self titled EP. The two have come to understand the power of the Godly connection in marriage. They are strengthened in working together and the kingdom is better for it. |
